Mawlynnong : Cleanest Village in Asia

India is known as one of the polluted country of the world but it's not true. Do you know there is a village in Meghalaya named Mawlynnong is known as the Cleanest village of Asia.

Mawlynnong is a village in the East Khasi Hills district of the Meghalaya state, India is located 90 km from Shillong, along the India-Bangladesh border.This village is famous for its matrilineal society as well as having been dubbed Asia's cleanest village.

As of June 2015 it had 500 residents. As of 2014, there are about 95 households in Mawlynnong.

Some other amazing facts of this village :

The literacy rate is 100%.

As is the tradition of the Khasi people, in Mawlynnong property and wealth are passed from the mother to the youngest of her daughters, who also keeps the mother's surname.

The waste is collected in the dustbins made of bamboo, directed to a pit and then used as manure.

The travel magazine Discover India declared Mawlynnong as the cleanest in Asia in 2003, and the cleanest in India in 2005.

One other amazing thing of this village is almost every person including children, women everybody contributes a big role to clean their village.

Conclusion :

When a small village which is not developed can do this then other villages which has been developed and have more resources to clean how can't do this.
